Siete de la Marea Carmesi

Siete de la Marea Carmesi

This is a painting I recently completed from a photo of Red Snapper caught in the Gulf of America. The original photo was a little washed out, so I had to improvise and add some saturated colors and shadow. I loved the composition with the only non-red snapper, a vermillion snapper, happening to be inverted in the lower left. I intentionally left the fish at the extremities of the canvas with almost an unfinish quality and added emphasis on the fish near the center of interest. I had almost as much fun painting these fish as I did catching them. And, if you have ever eaten red snapper, you don’t need me to tell you how enjoyable that was!
